We Rescue Care Adopt
Dogs & Cats

A significant reason for our existence is the prevalence of distressed animals in Bonaire.
We shelter dogs and cats that come from dire circumstances.
We provide them with shelter, healing, and rehabilitation.
Every animal deserves a second chance; a chance for a forever home.

About us

Peter & Patrice

We are the founders of F.K.K. Animal Rescue. In 2011, we moved from the Netherlands to Bonaire. Initially, we both had jobs and no plans to start an animal shelter. At first, we had our own dog, but over time, a few more dogs joined our family. This had a snowball effect, leading us to eventually establish an organization named Fundashon Kunuku Kakelvers.

For adoption

We focus on the well-being of dogs and cats on Bonaire, striving to find a loving home for many of them.
So, rescue an animal from the streets and give them a second chance!

We are a
Public Benefit Organization (PBO)

We hold an ANBI certification, indicating that we meet stringent quality standards. This ensures that we contribute to a better world for animals, handle each contribution we receive carefully, and provide accountability. ANBI stands for ‘Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling’ in Dutch, which translates to ‘Public Benefit Organization’ in English. We are fully committed to the public interest of dogs and cats in Bonaire. The outcomes of the work we carry out are beneficial for the entire community.

Helping Us
You Helping Them

The problem of stray dogs and cats, as well as neglected and/or abused dogs and cats, is no longer present.
However, the situation on Bonaire remains distressing. Assistance is crucial to us, regardless of its form.
Without our volunteers, travel companions, foster parents, sponsors, and donors,
we would not be able to carry out our work.
It simply cannot be done well enough without them!

Volunteer

The rescuer in need

Working as a volunteer is enjoyable, educational, and above all, meaningful! We receive reports about animals in need 24 hours a day. There’s always something to do, which is why we greatly appreciate the help of volunteers.

Travel companion

A travel buddy

Our animals are often adopted by someone from the Netherlands. Sometimes, the animal cannot return immediately. For these situations, we are looking for enthusiastic travel companions.

Foster parent

Temporary family member

Fostering a dog or cat means temporarily hosting an animal from our foundation at your home. By fostering a dog or cat, the chances of adoption are significantly increased.

Partner

Big or small gesture

Sponsors are very important to us, and it doesn’t matter whether they are big or small sponsors. Without them, we simply wouldn’t be able to do our work well enough!

Donor

Every dollar counts

Every animal that comes to us receives medical care from our regular veterinarian. All of this costs our foundation a significant amount of money (which we depend on from gifts and donations).

Adopt, don't shop!

If you are considering caring for an animal (whether it’s a cat, chicken, dog, horse, donkey, guinea pig, parakeet, or any other animal), then adopt. Never “buy” an animal! Animals are not objects or commodities that can be simply “sold”.

Our partners

Our partners are very important to us, and it doesn’t matter whether they are big or small companies.
Without them, we simply wouldn’t be able to do our work well enough!

Animals in need

We are a non-profit organization on Bonaire. We take in neglected and abused dogs and cats.
We ensure these animals recover and then seek new homes for them.
With the ‘Animals in Need’ campaign, we hope to receive some support.
Here’s to a bright future for the animals!
